One of Britain's best loved and iconic sports cars, has sold at an auction for more than £140,000.
The MGB Tourer claimed superstar status when the hammer went down on a bid of £141,922. That's a staggering 167 times higher than the original cost, and much higher than its auction estimate.
The reason for the cars enormous price tag is down to its rather unique history. it has been confirmed as the last known genuine works MGB rally car and is known to have competed in major international competition until being consigned to a garage in 1975.
The car was meticulously restored with absolutely no expense spared, turning it into an absolute must have for any car fanatic.
Auction director Edward Bridger-Stille commented, “The buzz in the auction hall when this car was offered was astounding, but nothing compared with the scale of the bidding, which went sky high.”
