£1million will be spent on fixing potholes in residential areas around Blackburn and Darwen local Councils have revealed.
A total of 19 streets will be mended, giving vehicle owners a more comfortable driving experience.
Councillor Dave Harling said: "The money is from savings made across the council, including staff taking unpaid leave and reducing the number of managers.
"This is a case of starting something this year which will have a big impact and save us money in the long term, because the fewer potholes we have to repair, the better.
A further £200,000 has been put aside for environmental improvements such as grass cutting and litter collecting.
Local residents have expressed their delight at the announcement.
