Local counselors of Blackburn have voiced the concerns of residents who have to deal with the influx of cars on Blackburn Rovers match days.
Weekends are all but ruined for residents who are left to cope with a huge increase in the amount of parked cars on their streets and near to their homes.
Councilor Jackie Slater said: “The fans leave their cars wherever they can and don’t seem to care. Last year a resident’s wife was taken ill and he couldn’t get his car out of the drive because it was blocked in.
“This is a big problem and it’s not been made any better since we lost parking at Darwen Vale High School.”
She went on to explain: “When the fans return to their cars they also have a tendency of tipping out what’s in their pockets all over the place and it leaves mess everywhere.
The effects of a new traffic management system introduced in 2010 are still waiting to be seen, and residents are calling for stronger measures to be employed.
