A headteacher from a school near Blackburn is appealing to parents who drive their children to school to park in more responsible locations.
The warning comes after two separate incidents outside the school gates.
The first saw one woman reverse out on to the main road outside the school, almost knocking over another parent who was walking her child to lessons.
The second incident saw traffic block an ambulance carrying a seriously ill patient who had collapsed on the pavement.
“This gentleman nearly died and emergency services were extremely concerned about the situation caused by parent parking,” said the Headteacher.
“Whilst we appreciate the need to use cars to bring children to school as working parents drop children off before setting off to work, we would respectfully ask parents to park safely and further away,” she added.
Parents have also been warned that the School car park is not to be used to pick up and drop off children.
A spokesperson for the local council said they are aware of the issue and intend to work with the school closely to solve the problem.
