30 thousand tonnes of grit have been stockpiled in preparation for Lancashire's Winter.
After a harsh winter last year that saw the average amount of grit used rise by 2 tonnes, councils said they cannot afford to make any mistakes this time round.
Blackburn Council has also confirmed that it is 'fully prepared' for the cold winter climate.
A total of 49 gritting vehicles are in place, complete with a backup of 16 vehicles ready to spread the load and keep driving conditions as safe as possible.
32 farmers have also signed up to help spread grit in some of the more remote areas.
