Jump cameras around Lancashire, intended to penalise motorists for driving through a red light, have never been turned on it has been revealed.
A total of 7 cameras dotted around the county, have never been activated despite being put in to place.
The Lancashire Partnership for Road Safety said that "maintenance problems" have prevented the cameras from ever being officially switched on.
However Lancashire County Council said that despite the cameras failing to be turned on, they still might be activated in the future.
A spokesperson said: "If there is an area where there’s high accident statistics we will look at them. The new philosophy on cameras across Lancashire is based on evidence."
